Preferring N-word Over African American?

According to a TMZ poll 55% of Black Americans prefer to be referred as N***a. 45% prefer African American. Why? Because in the words of Suga Knight “we arent from Africa.” Now I’m assuming this is referring to Blacks calling other Blacks n-word. I cant tell from the article if this refers to African Americans being called that by other nationalities.  Here’s the link and what Suga Knight said right here.

Personally, this is crazy to me. I get that we didn’t come from African.  At least the generations after the slaves didn’t come from African. The original slaves did. So I understand why Blacks don’t like being called that. But for me it’s more like “African American” is not accurate. As for me, I’m so far removed from anything African, I couldn’t be called that even if I had became nationalized.

To me, African American isn’t offensive. I find that non-Blacks prefer it because they feel it’s the most politically correct to say. Because there’s no point in arguing my point against it. I accept it. To me, some people are going to call me Black, other African American. That’s fine.

If you as me what do I prefer–I’m Black, period. My second choice would be an US  Citizen. But I ain’t nobody’s n****. I dont even use that word, to be honest.

I know some people are going to say, “I’m an American.” Well that’s also not accurate. I can’t remember where I got this from, but there are some people in this world would HATE when US Citizens call themselves Americans. I think it’s because we care excluding Mexico and Canada and saying we are the only country in the hemisphere. But I’m not totally sure on that.

Tell me what do you think below. Do you prefer African American, Black, or N****?
